Amazon has recently announced the new and improved Kindle DX, which boasts a 50% better contrast ratio, black graphite enclosure and a price tag of $389, which is $119 cheaper than the previous versions. It has finally happened. Mainstream eBook readers Kindle and nook have dropped under the magical $200 price point. This action started with Barnes & Noble lowering the cost of their flagship device to $199, and also introducing a Wifi only version for $149. Amazon countered within hours by dropping their Kindle device to $189. The eBook market is really heating up now that these devices are in reach of millions more consumers. Ready to buy now? Apple announced recently that they sold over 1 million iPads. This comes as no surprise really, as most of the recent Apple products have been wildly popular. The significant factor here is that Apple has sold this first million within 28 days, which is simply incredible. Apple has announced that over 12 million applications have been downloaded and more importantly, over 1.5 million electronic books. Apple has stormed into the electronic book arena and is trying to climb to that number one spot, the only question is, when will it happen?
